Born into a family of non-musicians in London’s Notting Hill, Tom Figgins credits his parents’ upright piano for his love of music. At 19, he penned his debut EP Your Place from his bedroom and his second Wake Up went on to achieve critical acclaim on both sides of the Atlantic.
Now Tom is back with a new look and a more mature, developed sound. His years of relentless gigging and song-writing have paid off – he has just been signed by Nick Stewart & Associates, headed by the man who signed U2 to Island Records. His new single 'Rain On Me' is a touching, personal song, full of longing and love, whilst his debut single Let Your Roots Grow encourages listeners to trust their instincts and believe in themselves knowing that, even as time goes by and seasons change, their foundations will always remain. It also embodies the transition in Tom’s musical output: trusting his formative influences, finding his true voice and the musical integrity that forms the heart of his music. As Tom explains:
'The title is all about sticking to your guns and trusting your roots. I realised how much I trusted my original influences, like Sting and Jeff Buckley, more than just trying to emulate all the people I wanted to sound like. Being true to my lyrical content and trusting myself in a sound, I’d discovered something I was incredibly excited about.'
With a residency at London’s popular live music venue The Troubadour, Tom is also a featured artist for Caffe Nero, and notable festival performances include Cornbury Festival, Beach Break Live 2013 and Beach Break Live 2012 to name a few, and his new single 'Rain on Me' has been well received on Radio 2 by Sir Terry Wogan and Janice Long. The man from London has finally found the sound he wanted to create: an earthy blend of acoustic folk rock. Join him as he enters this amazing new chapter in his musical life.
