Deep City Diver is an emerging band based in East London.

Devised by Australian ex-pat Ryan Nicolussi, Deep City Diver recalls the shimmering guitar-pop of fellow Antipodean exports The Church or The Triffids, combined with early-New Wave sensibilities and a knack for a good hook. Ryan’s lyrics are perfectly dry yet affecting, aiming for both the head and the heart.

Deep City Diver’s home demo recording ‘Darlinghurst’ is a defining opening statement. With a nod to 80’s indie rock, chugging guitars are interwoven with a half-time backbeat and picked eighth-note bass line before opening up into a bittersweet vocal refrain.
