TWO TIME EDINBURGH COMEDY AWARD NOMINEE
Carl started performing stand-up in 2005 and quickly established himself as one of the UK’s most exciting young comedians. His conversational, silly sense of humour saw him win a host of awards (Chortle Best Newcomer 2007, Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year 2007 among others) and become a regular at all of the finest comedy clubs in the UK and Ireland.
In 2009, Carl performed his debut solo show Relax Everyone, it’s Carl Donnelly! at the Edinburgh Fringe for which he was nominated for the Edinburgh Comedy Award for Best Newcomer. Since then, Carl has returned to Edinburgh with three further solo shows and will return with another in 2015, after his nomination in 2013 for the Fosters Comedy Award.
Recently, Carl has been developing as an international act, with a successful tour of Australia and New Zealand in 2013 and a second in 2015, as well as performing at the biggest comedy festivals in the world (Montreal Just for Laughs, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Sydney Comedy Festival, Kilkenny Cat Laughs etc).
Carl has also appeared on various TV shows including Mock The Week, Dave’s One Night Stand, Stand Up for the Week, Russell Howard’s Good News, Follow The Football, Comedy Store and, most recently, Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled. He is also a regular on radio appearing as a guest on such shows as BBC 5live’s The Back End of Next Week, Radio 4’s Loose Ends and Act Your Age as well as being a regular guest on talkSPORT. He has also co-hosted a radio show for the Fubar Radio app after his acclaimed podcast which he recorded with Chris Martin.
“Excellent, fast-rising comic with pacy anecdotal routines.” Sunday Times
“Donnelly has developed a style that is the antithesis of the loud, sweaty, manic comic so prevalent on the telly and live tours at the moment. This is stand up with valium: near horizontal levels of louche that take the mundane stories of everyday life and turns them into stretches of self deprecating silliness.” The Guardian
Just in his twenties, Ola has already appeared on Comedy Central, London Live, ITV4and MTV Base and written for BBCR4’s The Now Show, The News Quiz and Nathan Caton’s Can’t Tell Me Nothing. He performs all over the UK and as far afield as the European Continent and Dubai. Young, driven and hugely talented, Ola is a stand-up comedian, writer and actor with natural originality and enviable stage presence.
"A confident, laid-back performer with a refreshing honesty and an interesting story to tell. He has some really smart jokes.” The Scotsman
“The sort of enthusiastic, charismatic act likely to be plucked from the circuit by TV producers seeking a presenter to appeal to a youthful demographic.” Chortle
A twenty-something year old female, who has a skewed look at her life experiences whilst continually looking to achieve a fairy-tale life.
She has won a number of stand up comedy competitions including ‘The Blackout’ at Up The Creek (twice). Beat the gong at the Comedy Store London in December 2014. Also in that year she performed in Edinburgh in the semi-final of the renowned competition ‘So You Think You’re Funny?’. In May 2015 Fiona was a finalist in ‘Jokers Joker’. Most recently Fiona was a semi finalist in Funny Women 2015. Golden Jester Finalist 2015.
As heard on BBC Radio 4 Extra and BBC Radio 2. In his short career Danny has already achieved an awful lot, acting as tour support for Joe Lycett and Barbara Nice, appearing in the BBC New Act of the Year final and at this year's prestigious Pleasance Reserve.
"Danny Clives turns life's struggles into understated brilliantly observed gags. Very funny." Joe Lycett
BEN VAN DER VELDE
Standing a statutesque five foot five inches high (not in heels) and weighing in at eleven stone (on a good day) Ben is the current light-middleweight contender for compering champion of Kilburn.
“Sharp and crafty gagsmith.” Chortle
“Wonderfully improvised riffs showcasing his impressive spontaneity and sharp tongue.” Edinburgh Festivals Magazine
